About the Author
Alex Fowkes is a freelance designer based in London, UK. While working full time Alex completed lots of typography based briefs in his spare time, from personal pieces to commissions and album covers. His work varies from hand drawn type to digital typography but always tries to retain a human element to his work. The Sony Timeline is the biggest typographical piece he has undertaken taking almost 150 square meteres, taking over 2 months just to design.

Good book for inspiration and reference

The book covers four different styles of typographic work, namely hand rendered, vintage, playful and contemporary. The work featured clearly are curated for their beauty.

The first section on hand rendered typography looks at the creative lettering and type designers. A total of 72 are featured. They talk about their inspiration and process, and also specifically at selected pieces of their work.

The examples are beautiful, and it's not just typography but there are also other design elements at work to make the whole illustration work. There's a good variety of refreshing styles to check out. As such, it serves as a good reference, a book you'll want to browse through when facing a creative block.

The first section has 170 pages, and the book has 208 pages.

The second section is a workshop on type basics. It talks about the construction of a type. Using existing typefaces, you're invited to create your own range of type-based work. There are perforated pages with specimen sheets containing all the alphabets in different styles. These sheets are used for reference so you can trace over them and modify from there. The sheets have four sans serif, four serif, four script and four display type.

Drawing Type is a good resource for graphic and type designers. It's not so much a technical book on creating type, although you're introduced and invited to experiment with the selected reference typefaces that are picked out.

Great Book, Misleading Title

I have to say the title is misleading. This book has a few pages tacked on the end that are actually "how to." The rest is a collection of amazing artwork by famous lettering artists... which is exactly what I was looking for. I had to knock it a star because it's worthless a how-to illustrate letterforms book as it claims in the title. But I love referencing this book when starting a new piece. My favorite book on typography and lettering. Interesting interviews with artists who share their technique and styles. They all give really good insight into their design process. Wouldn't really call this a "how to" book. More of an influence, really. Highly recommended.

Beyond useful.

There's so much insights in this book. I found myself highlighting almost the entire book because there's so much useful information that can be readily applied. One example is when Mr. Poliquin talks about the benefits of tempo in a lift and how it can produce different results depending on how long it takes to complete the two.

He gives endless examples of workouts. That by itself is enough.

The book is great, but don't buy here.

Look, these private sellers are charging you 40 bucks. Go to the Poliquin Group website and buy this from their store for 14 dollars.

Seriously, this kind of marked up reselling is just ridiculous. Shame on these private sellers.

Having said all that, I bought my copy and it's excellent. Granted, I am 32 years old and I know what I am doing, I've been in the gym since I was 7 years old, I have my degree in Exercise Science, and most importantly I help people get bigger and stronger, while fixing their problems at the same time on a daily basis. The Poliquin Principles work, and you are a fool if you don't spend 14 dollars for such a valuable addition to your training library. This isn't the only book I read, but it is one of the few that stays on my desk. Another one is Advanced Sports Nutrition, 2nd Edition by Dan Benardot. If you don't have it, you are missing out on the single best nutrition book you can own. It also happens to be the least expensive one on the market, and I have no idea why.

Charles is the foremost expert on strength training, and this book delivers concise instructions for lifters of all levels. Could have been half the length and twice as interesting.

The book was fairly interesting. The author rarely explained how he came to some of the profiling conclusions that he reached. It seemed that the book became repetitive in the sense that the author would just say "I predicted the killer would have this set of traits, and lo and behold, he did!"
The author has led a very impressive life, and he is very aware of that fact.

I am referring to the audio cassette version of Mindhunter. After ordering it twice here on Amazon and instead getting a paperback romance called My Loving Enemy by Pat Wallace, I knew something was amiss.

So I bought it on ebay where I could clearly see a photo of the exact item the seller was selling.

I am now holding both items in my hands, and they do have the exact same ISBN's. So I looked online and indeed sometimes completely different books can have the same ISBN.

Information on methodologies are without any [tedious] detailing while Douglas consistently follows up with effective, sometimes harrowing!, anectodal implementation of such. ( more often, a second consideration or 'extra-' careful analysis yields Douglas himself to have been the direct causal agent of the [eventual] apprehension of UNSUB X, lending a 'real-life Superman' air to an outwardly simple man, nd one whom is unlikely to toot his own horn regardless of a legendary status.) ...Over-all : MINDHUNTER spares us lackluster minutiae of statistics, development, Bureau directives, etc. Instead, any average untrained John Q finds himself priveledged to - fortunately & fleetingly - prowl in the shoes of an elite: an expertly-trained, man-to-machine - MindHunter

I am always impressed with Frank Hammond's work. It is very important that each Christian is a warrior....especially in this time of our lives. One can see what spirit is controlling their friends, family, or even themselves. We need more material like this in our churches!

Excellent read

Discerning of spirits has been a request of mine from God for some time. This book explains it well with simplicity & the anointing of God! Loved it! Love everything from these folks! Their writings are an awesome benefit to the Body of. Christ in healing & deliverance. They've been a tremendous blessing!

Excellent! Very concise

Excellent! Very concise, pulls no punches about NOT speaking with demons, but relying on the Holy Spirit to help us help others. The only section that needed more clarification was towards the end when he wrote about territorial spirits. I believe it to be helpful when the Holy Spirits reveals what spirits are over neighborhoods, towns, cities, regions, countries, continents; but, nowhere do we see Jesus, any apostle, disciple, prophet, nor anyone in the Old Covenant scriptures bind, cast these types of spirits from their assigned territory. If we could do this, we would see it in the scripture and this would shutdown places like brothels, etc...we only have dominion over ourselves and our homes, scripture backs this up. Now saying that, it is quite helpful to know by revelation what type of spirits are over these areas, to understand why the people act and think the way they do.
