Reunited by tragedy 15 years after high school graduation, neither Christophe nor her nurse caretakers recognize Sheila as she lay on a hospital ICU bed attended by her former friend, reconstructive-plastic surgeon, Dr. Christophe Thomas and childhood girlfriend and nurse, Melinda Buckleberry-Todd. Christophe closes in on Sheila's identity as clues gathered during the reconstruction process slowly reveal the truth. Meanwhile, Sheila tries to make sense of her surroundings and physical condition as she weaves words she hears in conversations between nurses and doctors with what she recalls of memories. This is a purely speculative approach to how the brain may come to healing through the power of speech after suffering massive trauma. And at the heart of this tale flows a deep and everlasting love.
