Eighty-three-year-old fudge

I'm reading "The House of Morgan" on my Kindle. It's a great book (so I am giving the book itself five stars) but the Kindle production quality is terrible. The Kindle edition is shot through with typos. It looks like it was never proof-read. I don't know the technology used to convert the book to Kindle but it doesn't work very well. It frequently has problems with the letter "j". Many times in the book, Jack Morgan is referred to as "lack Morgan". The last straw, however, was a reference to "eightly-three-year-old fudge Ferdinand Pecora". If Amazon can't afford proof-readers for its Kindle editions, they might consider making books available free to a few readers with the understanding that they will report any typos they find.

love the book so far

I am more than half way done, love the book so far. I would have really liked to see the author discuss the banks ties to the Zodiac club in more detail, the connection with Skull and Bones was just barely touched- many readers will not even notice this and not really know what this club is. The relationship with Rothchild's was something I believed was much closer since they were at Jykll Island planning the Federal Reserve- J.P. Morgan and Paul Warburg. But in the book we are told J.P. Does not work with Jews and does not want anything to with the Rothchild Bank. It does not mesh in my mind. Maybe the author is correct, maybe J.P. Morgan wants to throw us off his track?

Very good history, but flawed because it's too long and not tightly edited

I enjoyed the history that escapes from the endless minutiae. I'm continually surprised by how much I don't know about the 1850s to the 1920s in the US, so that was a nice aspect of the book. However, the level of detail is crushing in many cases. Moreover, elements that have been explained once before are often explained again (and sometimes yet again). I think that Mr. Chernow could have used stronger editor. 300 pages could have been shaved from the book which would have made it stronger and probably more widely read, as well.

I've not read anything else by Ron Chernow, so I was not sure what to expect. If this is typical, I probably won't read anything else by him, either. Though I doubt he'd be very upset about that. =8-)

This book is a fantastic overview of how Six Sigma and Lean are implemented in different environments. It describes who should be involved and how to facilitate a group to reach your goals. The book sparked many ideas about how to identify areas of focus, as well as how to determine successful improvement. Six Sigma is about the whole system and requires a team commitment and effort to reach the expected outcome.

A practical approach to eliminating waste while improving quality

This is a practical program for getting lean by removing waste and reducing nonvalue add activities while simultaneously removing defects, errors, and thereby improving quality. I like the way the authors discuss the principles without wallowing in theoretical abstractions. This is about getting to it rather than trying to talk it to death.

The book is in two parts. The first part is called "The What" and provides an overview of Lean Six Sigma, why you need to view everything from the point of view of the customers, what waste is, what value added really is and why everything else is nonvalue added even if it is required (such as payroll). They also show you why you want a balanced flow manufacturing system rather than the traditional batch system. You are also given an introduction to concepts such as velocity, throughput, lead time, cost, and profit. Their note that cash flow can mask unprofitability for awhile is apt. As is their warning you that profitability with a negative cash flow is certain death.

Part 2 is "The How". The authors show you the basic tool set for Lean Six Sigma, how to get a good baseline, how to do a lean engineering analysis, what to do about setups, what the 5S method is (it is about having a clean and well organized workplace) and the sixth S of Safety. I enjoyed the discussion of Total Productive Maintenance being everyone's job rather than just the maintenance staff and the costs of cheating proper maintenance. You are then taken through four practical exercises that remove indirect expenses, increase assembly line throughput, reducing warranty costs, and eliminating rework. The last chapter is the psychology of Lean Six Sigma, which is a passionate and tenacious commitment to relentless improvement.

Purpose of this book

This book was born out of our experience in teaching practically oriented courses in digital signal processing (DSP) to undergraduate students at the University of Plymouth and the Sheffield Hallam University, and to application engineers in industry for many years. It appeared to us that many of the available textbooks were either too elementary or too theoretical to be of practical use for undergraduates or application engineers in industry. As most readers will know from experience, the gap between learning the fundamentals in any subject and actually applying them is quite wide. We therefore decided to write this book which we believe undergraduates will understand and appreciate and which will equip them to undertake practical digital signal processing assignments and projects. We also believe that higher degree students and practising engineers and scientists will find this text most useful.

Our own research work over the last two decades in applied DSP has also inspired the contents, by identifying practical issues for discussion and presentation to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical implementation, and by suggesting application examples, case studies, and problems.

The current great interest and developments in DSP both in industry and academia are likely to continue for the foreseeable future. The availability of numerous digital signal processors recognizes the commercial potential of DSP. Its major attraction lies in the ability to achieve guaranteed accuracy and perfect reproducibility, and in its inherent flexibility compared with analogue signal processing. In industry, many engineers lack the necessary knowledge and expertise in DSP to utilize the immense potential of the very powerful digital signal processors now available off the shelf. This book provides insight and practical guidance to enable engineers to design and develop practical DSP systems using these devices.

In academia, DSP is generally regarded as one of the more mathematical topics in the electrical engineering curriculum, and based on our experiences of teaching we have reduces the mathematical content to what we consider useful, essential, and interesting; we have also emphasized points of difficulty. Our experiences indicate that students learn best if they are aware of the practical relevance of a subject, and while more theoretical texts are essential for completeness and reference as the student matures in the subject, we believe in producing graduates equipped also with practical knowledge and skills. This book was written with these considerations in mind.

The book is not a comprehensive text on DSP, but it covers most aspects of the subject found in undergraduate electrical, electronic or communication engineering degree courses. A number of DSP techniques which are of particular relevance to industry are also covered and in a few years, we believe, these will find their way into undergraduate curricula. These include techniques such as adaptive filtering and multirate processing.

The emphasis throughout the book is on the practical aspects of DSP. C language programs are provided to enable readers to explore the concepts presented in the book, to design and analyse their own DSP systems, and to gain a deeper understanding of DSP.

Commercial DSP software is available and plays a key role in the design and analysis of DSP systems. However, with most commercial software, it is difficult actually to find out or follow how a given operation is performed. The programs given in this book are useful in verifying results obtained manually. For example, by inserting break points the user can check the intermediate results of computation and follow the way the computation is made. Having acquired a sound knowledge of the principles, commercial software packages with good graphics support and user-friendly interfaces may then be used in most designs.

-- finite wordlength effect analysis of user-designed IIR filters,

-- converting from cascade to parallel realization structures,

-- correlation computation,

-- discrete and fast Fourier transform algorithms,

-- inverse z-transformation,

-- frequency response estimation, and

-- multirate processing systems design.

PC-based C programs are available on a computer disk to encourage

readers to participate more actively in the learning process (see the section

'How to obtain the program disk for this book' in this preface for details).

Contains many real-world application examples.

Contains many end-of-chapter problems.

Use of realistic examples to illustrate important concepts and to reinforce

the knowledge gained.

The intended audience

The book is aimed at engineering, science and computer science students, and application engineers and scientists in industry who wish to gain a working knowledge of DSP. In particular, final year students studying for a degree in electronics, electrical or communication engineering will find the book valuable for both taught courses as well as their project work, as increasingly a greater proportion of student project work involves aspects of DSP. Postgraduates studying for a master's degree or PhD in the above subjects will also find the book useful.

Undergraduate students will find the fundamental topics very attractive and, we believe, the book will be a valuable source of information both throughout their course as well as when they go into industry.

Large commercial or government organizations who undertake their own internal DSP short courses could base them on the book. We believe the book will serve as a good teaching text as well as a valuable self-learning text for undergraduate, graduate and application engineers.

Contents and organization

Chapter 1 contains an overview of DSP and its applications to make the reader aware of the meaning of DSP and its importance. The chapter presents, from a practical point of view using real-world examples, many fundamental topics which form the cornerstone of DSP, such as sampling and quantization of signals and their implications in real-time DSP. Discrete-time signals and systems are introduced in this chapter, and discussed further in Chapter 3.

Discrete transforms, particularly the discrete and fast Fourier transforms (FFT), provide important mathematical tools in DSP as well as relating the time and frequency domains. They are introduced and described in Chapter 2 with a discussion of some applications to put them in context. The derivation of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) from the Fourier transform and the exponential Fourier series provides a logical justification for the DFT which does not require coverage of the discrete Fourier series which would unnecessarily increase the length of the book (and the amount of work for the student!). The discussion has also been restricted to the description and implementation of the transforms. In particular, the topic of windowing has not been included in this chapter but is more appropriately discussed in detail in Chapter 10 on spectrum analysis.

In Chapter 3 the basics of discrete-time signals and systems are discussed. Important aspects of the z-transform, an invaluable tool for representing and analysis discrete-time signals and systems, are discussed. Many applications of the z-transform are highlighted, for example its use in the design, analysis and computation of the frequency response of discrete-time signals and systems. As in the rest of the book, the concepts as well as applications of the z-transform are illustrated with fully worked examples.

Correlation and convolution are fundamental and closely related topics in DSP and are covered in depth in Chapter 4. The authors consider an awareness of all the contents of this chapter to be essential for DSP, but after a preliminary scanning of the contents the reader may well be advised to build up his or her detailed knowledge by progressing through the chapter in stages. The contents might well be spread over several years of an undergraduate course.

Good book. But the correlation /SNR theory are too old

This is a great book. I will encourage any one doing DSP to read this book. However, some of the theories described in this book are too old In recent years, there are many important new developments in DSP algorithms. For example, the correlation-signal theory described in this book is fundamentally incorrect (p 199 to p206). Recently, Guo Mian et. al. developed autocorrelation signal to noise ratio (ACSNR) algorithm to percisely determine the Signal to noise ratio(SNR) for an arbitary data sequence in time domain using correlation method. ( IEEE Trans. Magn.Vol. 29, pp. 3999. Nov. 1993). Signal and the noise can be percisely determined by the correlation function. This method has been widely used in digital recording/telecommunication industies. It has also been implemented in LeCroy digital scopes. I will encourage the author revise his book in the new edition.

This book is only OK

This book is OK. Its not a very good book as an introduction in my opinion. If you are a new student to DSP I would steer clear of this book and get Oppenheim & Schafer or Proakis & Manolakis first. However, if you are looking for practical coding examples for things, this book is VERY good in that regard. It could be useful to the new student as an alternate reference.

This book is pretty good to study DSP with C language. It contains many practical example C source code but this book has many misprint I'll expect that misprint will correct next edition!

Forex trading is now a lot easier for me

The stock market has always intrigued me, so when I came across this book I quickly bought it. The trading strategies outlined in the book are so easy that I am sorry I did not find it earlier. Some really simple forex strategies are outlined along with examples of how trades may turn out, depending on stock market conditions. The day trading tools that can be used are mentioned, and many of the trading jargon used are explained.

This book will make a great addition to my finance books collection. If you are curious about forex trading or want to learn some strategies that can help to make your trading a success, read the book.

What I like about this set is the simple and clear explanation ...

If you are eyeing for investment related to trading then this book set might help you. It discusses the 3 common kinds of trading named day trading, forex trading and options trading. Each book discusses each kind stating it's advantage, disadvantage and how it differs from one another. Tips and techniques are also provided in here. I am looking to invest in trading and I can say that this book helped me realized what kind fits me well. What I like about this set is the simple and clear explanation provided by the author. Good book indeed.

Very informative books about trading

It was a great read! These books are guide to trading. First book "Day Trading" tells you about trading basics, different techniques, plans and strategies.It is a great find for the beginner. Second one book "Forex" was gold to me, because I always wanted to try trading with Forex. This book tells all about Forex and how you can be master at it! Third book "Options Trading" tells you about common mistakes, strategies and lot of more as it relates on trading. I have to say all these 3 books are full package!

Larry Hama returns to his original series with all-new stories!

From 1982 to 1994 Larry Hama wrote the legendary "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero!" series published by Marvel. The series stopped with #155. (These issues are currently being reprinted in the "Classic G.I. Joe" trades by IDW.)

Fast-forward to May 2010. IDW released #155.5 as a freebie for "Free Comic Book Day." Here Larry Hama picked up the story right where he had left off over 15 years earlier. In July 2010 the series officially reopened with #156, and has been going strong with new monthly installments since. Same writer, same continuity, same issue numbering - this is the definitive continuation of the classic Marvel run!

This trade collects #155.5 thru #160, and is called "volume 1" because these are the first issues published by IDW that continue the original Marvel story.

The Joe team has been disbanded, and Cobra attempts to hunt some of the key members (Hawk, Duke, Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, Roadblock, Stalker, Mainframe, Rock N Roll) down. The Joes reunite and strike back. Great stuff!

I gave this volume 4 stars because #157 and #160 drag a little and the art isn't the best I've seen for G.I. Joe. I don't mean this as a slam against Augustin Padilla, but I just feel that his style isn't right for this genre. (However, starting in #161 SL Gallant took over the art chores and his work is PERFECT. His amazing work will be featured in the next trade, but sadly not in this one.) Despite my complaints this volume is over all a total blast to read. Nobody writes the Joes like Hama!

For #156 and forward each issue has been printed with three cover variations, one of them being a sketch by Larry Hama. (The Hama sketch covers are difficult to find.) This trade features an excellent cover gallery in the back where we get full page reproductions of all three covers for #156 - #160. Very cool - especially the Hama sketch covers.

To have Larry Hama back on his original Marvel story-line is a dream come true! YO JOE!

A refreshing update to a classic tale

I have recently started to collect the classic GI Joe comics from the 1980's run. I recommend these stories to anyone reading this review. A year or two ago, IDW (the current publsher of the GI Joe comics) asked Larry Hama, the writer and part-time illustrator of the classic series, to come back and publish new stories set in the GI joe universe of the classic comics,as a result we got GI Joe a Real American Hero.

This is the first volume of this new series, and it kicks it off pretty well. After reading this volume I am going to be collecting them all as they come out.

In my opinion, GI Joe A Real American Hero, is the perfect blend of classic 1980's comic book writing and modern art. It is great to see a modern comic book story with all the classic Joes just the way I remember them when I was a kid.

I introduced my 11 year old son, to both the classic series, and this relaunch, and he likes the relaunch better. I think this new series does a great job of introducing GI Joe to a new generation, without compromising the integrity of these characters.

In short this series does a great job of bridging the gap between 1986 and 2012. For a GI Joe fan, this would be my recommendation, if you were limited to reading only one of the modern era GI Joe comics. Well, now you know, and knowing is half the battle. Yo Joe!

Maybe you can't go home again

I was over the moon when I heard that Larry Hama was returning to GI Joe and picking off exactly where he left off in the 1990s. His GI Joe run from the 80s and 90s is one of my favorites of all time and I've been enjoying the IDW reprints.

I know this opinion won't be popular but the first volume falls far short of the original run.

The premise is great, after Cobra stages terrorist attacks the U.S. declares martial law and hires 'security contractors' like Arbco Systems and Coordinated Order By Righteous Americans (one guess who they really are) to keep the peace. It's a brilliant combination of right wing and left wing paranoia and hands Cobra their greatest victory yet. Soon Cobra troopers in full uniform are shooting people in the streets.

But the execution is just sloppy. In the first few pages we have General Hawk shooting a policeman in the face. Sure he's a Cobra-controlled cop, but still it's a distasteful way to start. Later Roadblock hacks up several government agents (yeah, yeah, Cobra-loyal agents) with a meat cleaver. It's implied that Stalker tortured a Cobra trooper off-camera. Everything feels just too grim and dark, and not at all fun.

And then the interesting scenario is wrapped up in just a few pages with no real impact.

Agustin Padilla's art is also ill suited for Hama's usual stories. He often draws the Joes superhero-style standing in the open charging right into enemy fire. Other artists drew them more like real-world soldiers, taking cover, choosing their shots carefully. At no point does it feel like the Joes are in danger, their main complaint is running low on ammo.

If this was the only book I bought I would have dropped the series. Fortunately with book 2 things pick up nicely. Hama rediscovers his sense of humor, we see some of the gadgets and vehicles come back and the art improves nicely. Book 1 is not bad but really fell short of the original run.

Dork Diaries 9 WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2
The past twenty-four hours of my life have been so disgustingly NAUSEATING that I’m actually starting to feel like a . . . puddle of . . . um, cat . . . VOMIT!!

First I ruined my brand-new sweater with a PBJ and pickle sandwich (a long story).

Then I got hit in the face by a dodgeball during gym in front of the ENTIRE class and ended up trapped in a wacky fairy tale (an even longer story!).

Okay, I can handle the utter HUMILIATION of walking around school OBLIVIOUS to the fact that a SANDWICH is stuck to my abdomen like duct tape.

Hey, I can even handle a mild concussion. However, what I CAN’T handle is the fact that “someone” started an AWFUL rumor about me!

I overheard two CCP (Cute, Cool & Popular) girls gossiping about it in the bathroom.

Rumor has it that my CRUSH kissed me (at a charity event last weekend) on a DARE merely to snag a FREE large pizza from Queasy Cheesy!

Of course I totally FREAKED when I heard it! Not only is a dare like that rude and insensitive, but it’s a very cruel joke to play on a person like . . . well . . . ME!

I was SURE the whole thing was a big fat LIE! Sorry! But everyone knows Queasy Cheesy pizzas are just NASTY! Had it been a dare for a yummy Crazy Burger, I’d TOTALLY believe it!

Hey, I’ll be the first to admit, that rumor could have been A LOT worse. But STILL . . . !! I just wish “someone” would stay out of my personal business. And by “someone,” I mean my mortal enemy . . . MACKENZIE HOLLISTER !!

I don’t know why that girl HATES MY GUTS! It wasn’t MY fault Principal Winston gave her a three-day detention for “unsportsmanlike behavior” for slamming me in the face with that dodgeball.

I’m really LUCKY I’m not in a COMA right now! Or undergoing life-threatening surgery . . .

Anyway, as punishment for what MacKenzie did to me, she has to clean the bug-infested showers in the girls’ locker room.

Unfortunately, I learned today that the bug problem in there is REALLY bad!!

I was sitting behind MacKenzie in French class finishing up my homework when I noticed there was something stuck in her hair.

At first I thought it was one of those fancy designer barrettes she loves to wear. But when I took a closer look, I realized it was actually a gigantic dead STINK BUG!! EWW !!

That’s when I tapped her on the shoulder. “Um, MacKenzie! Excuse me, but I just wanted to let you know that—”

“Nikki, WHY are you even talking to me?! Just mind your OWN business!” she said, glaring at me like I was something her spoiled poodle, Fifi, had left in the grass in her backyard.

This book was awesome, as always. If I knew Rachel Renee, I would thank her for being an awesome author/illustrator. Step into the mind of a bully--the strongest entry in the series thus far

Ever since the first book, I've become a fan of the Dork Diaries series. (Basically, it's Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but for girls). Despite being way past the intended age group for these books, I've found a kindred spirit of sorts in Nikki Maxwell--the artistic dorky girl who just wants to make friends, survive middle/high school, and stay one step ahead of the school's queen bee and number one bully. While some of the dialogue can get repetitive at times, the artwork to go along with the story more than makes up for it, and makes the plots that much more hilarious (and it's a big step above the stick figures in the aformentioned "Wimpy Kid" books, considering the main character goes to art school in the summer).

In this installment, Nikki's number one bully, MacKenzie, finally goes too far when she instigates a fight between Nikki and her crush, Brandon; spreading rumors that the kiss he gave her (in one of the previous books) was just done on a dare to get free pizza. Things then take a turn for the ultimate worst when MacKenzie manages to steal Nikki's diary, and uses the info contained within to hack into Nikki's "Miss Know it All" website and write nasty responses to the students using the help line, in an effort to frame Nikki for cyberbullying and get her expelled. And in the meantime, MacKenzie writes a few scathing journal entries of her own. Will Nikki get her diary back? And can they stop MacKenzie's mean pranks before they cause serious damage?

I'll just say it right now; I think this installment was one, (if not the most) strongest entry in the series thus far. MacKenzie has been the series' villain all the way since the beginning; being nothing but a snobby, popular girl, who's super rich and seems to have it all. But it's not until now that we FINALLY get an insight into how her usual day is, and how her mind works, and just why exactly she hates Nikki so much. We get her thoughts on her actions throughout all the previous books, as well as learn what her home life is like. While yes, she IS very rich, and almost always gets what she wants, a keen eye will be able to tell that not everything is as perfect and stable as she thinks it is. Both her and Nikki have to deal with having an annoying, younger sister; the big difference being that while Nikki tries her best to teach Brianna to do the right thing, MacKenzie just stoops to doing what her parents do, and just buys her whatever she wants to keep her quiet. (Not to mention, she leaves her sister unattended in a playground while she goes shopping.) While her tastes are expensive, she DOES have a limit on her allowance. And more than once, she's caught in a lie; early in the book, she brags to Nikki about how expensive her "designer" lipstick is, only for the audience to find out later she bought it at RiteAid.

The most pressing thing to note, however, is her parents/family. While Nikki's life can be hectic, she always at least has the loving support of her parents, sister, and her best friends. MacKenzie, on the other hand, is virtually ignored by her parents, who are always on some kind of trip, or are too busy to give her the proper attention. At one point, MacKenzie is trying to talk to them about something important, to which her folks just carry on with what they're doing, without giving her so much as a glance (until she starts screaming and crying). And if MacKenzie DOES have a serious problem she needs to talk about, her folks just send her off to a therapist. And her "friends" aren't much better; the second an embarrassing video of MacKenzie hits the internet, her "friends" are quick to dump her as the school Queen Bee, and find a new, "better" popular girl to hang out with. Suffice it to say, MacKenzie has a lot of issues and insecurities as well, but chooses to deny and hide it underneath a pile of lies and shameless flaunting of what material luxuries she has.

Most of all, this book depicts one of the worst cases of cyberbullying I've ever seen. As MacKenzie puzzles out who the anonymous letters to "Miss Know it All" are from, she sends mean and cruel responses in an attempt to make Nikki look bad, damage her reputation, and ultimately get her expelled from school. This not only hurts Nikki, but is also damaging to the people getting the letters. To this, I say this book should become a MUST read, in an effort to teach kids just how hurtful bullying really is, and how damaging the consequences could be. (As well as getting into the mind of a bully themselves, and why they do the things they do.)

One interesting thing to note, however, is that once MacKenzie gets a hold of the diary, she also draws accompanying illustrations. It's easy to forget that she too is an artist (if one remembers the very first book). As much as I hate to say it....I actually kind of like MacKenzie's artwork just a bit better than Nikki's. She draws the characters much more realistically, and her art is probably closer to what the characters would look like in real life. Not that I don't like Nikki's art style (she typically draws more realistically for serious entries, and goes with the "anime head on a stick figure with mitten hands" look for silly/funny entries). I guess just after reading eight books with the same artist, it was a nice change of pace to see a different art style for a bit.

I'd reccommend this series for ages 8 and up. While there's no mention of drugs, or sex, or swearing, there's other topics that crop up that tend to only be heard by the middle school crowd (such as getting cell phones, throwing wild parties, and first kisses).

About the Author

Robert Scherrer is Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Vanderbilt University, where he arrived in 2003 following 15 years as a professor of physics at Ohio State University. He received is A.B. in physics from Princeton University, spent two years at Cambridge University on a Marshall Scholarship, and then received his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Chicago. While a professor at Ohio State, Scherrer received the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching. His teaching philosophy follows the advice of Hippocrates: “First, do no harm.” He believes that most physics students come to study physics because they find it interesting, and it is the teacher’s job to maintain that interest while navigating the sometimes-difficult subject matter.

Scherrer’s own research is in the area of theoretical cosmology, including the physics of the early universe, dark matter and dark energy, and the large-scale structure of the universe. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and five children.

Could supplement a more detailed text

This book is wonderful at explaining a few concepts, like reflection and transmission of particles at potential barriers... and awful at explaining others. However, it's a pretty good overview of beginning quantum mechanics. It also includes mathematical review of some linear algebra topics, like operators and vector spaces, that were very useful in reinforcing understanding. The upperclassmen in our physics department call Scherrer the "Macbook" because it's thin, pretty, and functional. Its thinness does reduce its usefulness as a comprehensive text. I'd use it in conjunction with a text like Eisberg & Resnick, so that you get both detailed mathematical explanation and two different ways of explaining conceptual topics.

One note I have about this book is that the index is awful. Whenever I wanted to look up a particular law or formula by name, it wasn't there. You can only search by vague topic, apparently. It's pretty hard to find a particular page or concept in this book, since it's all spread out. You kind of have to go through it linearly.

Excellent for students studying QM for the first time

I am undergraduate physics student, and I am studying QM for the first time this semester. Unlike a lot of intro textbooks on QM (say Griffith's), this book is not loaded with too much detail that could be intimidating for first-time learners like myself. Therefore, I appreciate the author greatly for the clarity and conciseness of the book, and the book is truly for anyone who wants quick, but still excellent, overview of the subject.

This is an excellent introductory book in QM for undergrads, nicer and more appealing than Griffiths, specialy the part in angular momentum with ladder operators, beautiful! I highly recomend it for a first course in QM
